At time of writing we at Best are sitting on our hands waiting for the Government to pronounce on holiday clubs for the summer. Will they be allowed? If so what will the format be? We have been planning to try and meet any eventuality so hopefully as soon as we have word we'll be able to spring into action!
It's clear that this lockdown is causing real stress for young people and that bringing them together with their social circle again at the earliest possible (and safe) time is essential. Our online courses have at least given them a forum in which to interact and share experiences but none of this is a subsitute for physical presence - whether or not there's a 2m or 1m gap.
We are very proud of what we've achieved at Best over this unprecedented period. As well os our very popular weekly online classes we've had our Singalong projects, our week long academies (and their resulting films) and our two longer projects for the little ones. And all of this has been completely live and interactive - we haven't just been playing out videos. We've also been running a Playreading Group free on Mondays for secondary school children which has proven both popular and amazingly entertaining and started this new blog site.
But like the rest of the world we've probably had enough now and would love to get back to whatever the new normal looks like. So come on, DfE! What's in your planner? For better or worse PLEASE LET US KNOW!!!
